Stress damages your skin, your mind and your health. How do we prevent stress when we feeling tense?
The solution is very simple – Paying attention to your breathing for a few minutes. This action could sooth your nerves and even lead to better mental health.
According to International Journal of Psychophysiology, researches at Toho University School of Medicine in Japan (after they have done an experiment in May), subjects on breathing this way for 20 minutes does reduce their stress. Another study in the April issue of Cognitive Therapy and Research, investigators at Ruhr University Bochum asked subjects to pay attention on their 18 minutes breathing reported less negative thinking and less rumination.
You can try to use this technique to reduce your stress. Simply sit up comfortably and breathe naturally. Focus your attention to your breath, felling it in detail – in the nasal cavity, the chest and the abdomen. At the beginning, it might to difficult to stay focused, but with some practice you should able to do it. Try now! :
